Our Luck Has Run Out??!

A snowy day here, and as usual, the dogs are loving it, but I so want some more "nice" tracking time before winter sets in for good. Tank and Trust are trying to convince me to go down the path to the forest.
And then "Watch Out!" Here comes Blast! He just retrieved a ball, that is way back inside his mouth...like I don't know it...
Blast spied the teeter and jumped on, now is bracing to stop sliding down it, once it tipped.Jess is wishing there was more snow to roll in. This amount is hardly worth it! She will be 16 in two weeks!

Just Blast....Just Because....

A lovely day, and how long before this is covered in snow?! Out through the forest, racing through trees and branches to scare the heck out of me. Running full tilt, I don't know why he doesn't crash into obstacles.
A favorite place of his when we walk into the field is the rock pile. He races up, has a look around, looks for "goodies" up there (like fox poop) then picks his way carefully down.
Looking off into the distance, with his favorite ball in his mouth. We had a lots of wolves here at 3:30 a.m. this morning, so was wondering if any the dogs on our walks would "pick up on them", but no-one seemed to. I always find it odd, they never seem to worry about the wolves howling in the night....raccoons, foxes....that's another story
On top of an old hay bale, he's offering behaviour to get his ball back. The ball is all powerful
He's about to get the ball back!

The "Scenting Post"

Part way through the forest is an old and odd-shaped stump that the dogs ALWAYS rush to and smell up and down, and on the top. We call it the scenting post, as it seems obvious that something (s) either walk over it and scratch or rub on it. Our dogs never have tried to "mark" it, but just enjoy smelling it. They always rush to it, and I've never been able to get there fast enough to get any pictures. Today, with Tank and Trust, I had them 'wait' about 15' back on the path, and I walked up ahead.
Trust is working on the top, while Tank goes to the base.
She is working her way down, and Tank heard something in the distance...hopefully not the wolves from last night.
This all took place within about a minute and a half; it's the same each time, smell up and down, and around, then continue on....
One last "check' for Trust. If you look closely, or enlarge the picture, you will see that she is actually taking a little lick here. One of those odd and interesting things...we do wonder what is "using" this....
