Lovely Afternoon Walk

The favorite old and mainly dead white birch out back is still standing. I now it won't last too much longer, not sure why we care so much about it, but we do; we always look ahead and hope it's still there...
Another pretty old birch, and unusual because of its shape.
Can you imagine...we actually went for a walk in the forest without ANY dogs!!! We were hoping to see something unusual, but did not. Actually, we were concerned they would have problems breaking through in some areas, but it wasn't too bad.
CROSSTRACKS! Can't seem to get away from thinking 'tracking' and couldn't resist this shot.
Grouse tracks were all over in one area and these were from two who had 'crossed' and left very distinct crosstracks!!!

Blast, Tank and Trust walk...

Because we did a snowshoe walk this afternoon, with, can you believe it??? NO dogs! We were short on time and did a three dog walk. Blast is leading the race with a pull toy. In most areas now, they can stay on top of the snow without breaking through. Great fun.
Who stole the toy? I left it right here!!!
Aha! Here's the Wubba!!! Even better..
And...what's better than one toy, but two!!! And I'm not sharing...

Elles' Wubba Walk

I think this was the first time that Elle had the Water Wubba. It's great for outside in the snow.
Solid looking little puppy...
She was mighty curious about what David was doing....just what WAS he doing....? Probably trying to untangle her.
She looks so proud when she's strutting around with a prize in her mouth.

Blast out on a walk.

Blast ran under one of the big spruce trees and came out with a prize branch. He was very pleased with himself.

You can see how far down in the crusty snow his left hind leg is..we have to be very careful right now, if they run and go through, they can injure themselves.
Back on some not so deep snow, where he doesn't break through. Gotta' have something in his mouth.

Elle on Friday afternoon

This morning Elle went with me to the hairdressers. She had a good time exploring all over in there, and met some strange looking people - with their hair in various stages - and lots of probably not very nice smells in there. She sneezed a few times when she first went inside.
So, coming home, we stopped in the driveway for a walk and a little play.
In the above two photos, she was searching for small pieces of ice I had picked up and held briefly before tossing up on the snow mound.
Look at those ears....they're still up, down and all over the place.

Elle the "Celebrity"..?

I have a talented friend, Susan Skolnick, who has a talent of playing with dog photos (and sometimes people) and give them new personalities.
These are just all cute and funny. Above, Elle is on the cover of Vogue Magazine....
And here, the "cover girl" actually has a magazine "named after her"....
Unfortunately, she has devil eyes in these, as I used a flash when I took the photo...cute, nonetheless...
